Service invited to shape new Substance Use strategy

Fri, 15 - January - 2021

The public consultation for Northern Ireland’s new Substance Use Strategy (‘Making Life Better: Preventing Harm, Empowering Recovery – A Strategic Framework to Tackle the Harm from Substance Use’) is open until 5th February 2021.

We're delighted that the Department of Health is hosting an additional online event as part of the consultation, specifically to hear the views of service users and their families.

This event will cover all aspects of the consultation and take place on Friday 22 January at 10am.  Due to the ongoing pandemic, this event will be held via ZOOM.

The event is being independently facilitated by ‘Insight Solutions’, who will be taking note of the views expressed by participants and feeding these back to the Department. Any service user or family member who wishes to attend, should send an e-mail to: hdpb@health-ni.gov.uk

Your e-mail should contain:

  • Your name
  • Your e-mail address
  • Your preferred date to attend and
  • Whether you are attending as an individual or on behalf of an organisation

In order to get the most out of the facilitation event, participants are encouraged to have read through the consultation document or the easy read version beforehand. These documents are both available via the DoH website at:  https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/SUS-consultation.

If a service user is unable to attend the Zoom session, they are free to respond to the consultation in their own time via the online option on the same website.

In addition, officials from the Health Development Policy Branch are available to discuss the consultation document with groups who would find it beneficial.  If you would like to make use of this please contact: hdpb@health-ni.gov.uk

The consultation will remain open until Friday 5 February 2021.

We encourage all service users across NI to join in and have your say in shaping this important strategy!
