Creative Writing Facilitator Volunteer - Kilkeel

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

To plan, organise and facilitate a creative writing group in the service for tenants and encourage participation. This role provides volunteers with an opportunity to develop their own self-confidence in facilitation as well as learning from staff and volunteers.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Organise and facilitate a creative writing group within the service.
  • To help promote the sessions.
  • Facilitate members in accessing the sessions.
  • Participate in online training.
  • To ensure health and safety is maintained at all times.
  • To support the team in various tasks as required by Supervisor.
  • Report back to Supervisor on issues and updates.

ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

Experience in creative writing.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Good organisational skills.

Manage the resources of the group as agreed by the Supervisor.

Knowledge of health and safety.

Interest in supporting those affected by severe mental illness.

 

Desirable

Previous experience of facilitating groups.

Previous experience within the Voluntary sector, or previous knowledge of those affected by severe mental illness.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All appropriate and agreed expenses will be covered as per MindWise expenses policy. 

Enhanced Access NI checks will be carried out on all regulated positions and successfully returned prior to placement. To assist in the role volunteers will be expected to attend and fully engage in guidance and support meetings with an allocated volunteer supervisor and will have access to regular training.

SELECTION

Volunteers will be inducted via the Active 8 volunteer programme. They will be invited to an informal interview with the Volunteer Manager and the Supervisor.
