MACMILLAN and MINDWISE: SOCIAL WORK PRACTITIONER CANCER & MENTAL HEALTH
Location Base: Blended home and office-based working; based at MindWise’s Head Office with travel throughout NI and occasionally ROI and UK.
Hours: 35 Hours per week. (Reduced working hours may be considered and discussed with the successful candidate)
Grade: Macmillan Social Worker Band 6
This post is also open to AYE Candidates at B5 who meet the essential criteria i.e. those who have successfully completed their qualification but have not yet graduated are eligible to apply.
Salary Range:
Band 6 - £37,338 - £44,962 (pro-rata) (AfC 25/26 Salary Scale)
Band 5 - AYE Candidates £29,970 - £36,483 (pro rata) AfC 25/26 Salary Scale)
Duration: Fixed Term contract until 31st August 2027

As a Macmillan funded Professional, employed by MindWise, the post holder will be part of the newly formed team to develop and implement the Cancer and Mental Health Psychosocial Service in N Ireland. This service is part of Macmillan’s Psychological care programme of work across the UK. The post holder will work closely with GP practice and Health and Social Care Trusts, developing partnerships across HSC cancer and mental health services, voluntary sector charities, fora for people with lived experience of cancer and mental health issues, and carer organisations. The post holder will also assist and support the development of a scoping exercise across specific GP practice areas of the volume of people living with cancer and mental health issues. They will be part of the Psychosocial Team who will provide consultation, advice, and guidance, alongside delivering clinical interventions to families, and carers, who are living with cancer and mental health issues, who require specialist intensive support. The postholder will also be responsible for assisting and supporting regional training for staff, and support programmes for families. This new service will also be evaluated, and the post holder will assist and support the independent evaluation company with data collection and analysis.
What we ask for from you:
A University degree in Social Work Or A professional qualification in social work or those who have successfully completed their qualification but have not yet graduated are eligible to apply – (AYE).
Be fully registered with, or eligible to register with, NISCC as a Social Worker.

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

The post holder may be required to travel throughout Northern Ireland and on occasions, within the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and elsewhere.
