Befriending Volunteer - Antrim (Female)

The main focus of this role is to provide befriending support to clients in their local community. This role offers you, the volunteer the chance to build personal confidence as well as support clients with mental health needs and reduce isolation.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To support service users to engage in community activities.
  • Facilitate services users in becoming independent.
  • To ensure health and safety is maintained at all times.
  • To support service user social interaction.
  • Participate in online training.
  • Report back to Supervisor on issues and updates.

ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Good organisational skills.

Knowledge of health and safety.

Good understanding of personal and professional boundaries and adherence to confidentiality.

Interest in supporting those affected by severe mental illness.

Desirable

Previous experience of Befriending or Mentoring.

Previous experience within the Voluntary sector, or previous knowledge of those affected by severe mental illness.
