We demand action is taken on the Perinatal Mental Health Business Case

Mon, 20 - January - 2020

The All Party Group on Mental Health, of which MindWise are the Secretariat, have written to Health Minister Robin Swann to ensure that the recommendations set out within the Perinatal Mental Health Business Case are implemented.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in mothers in the first year after birth. There is only one trust in Northern Ireland which provides specialist perinatal mental health care, and there is no mother and baby unit on the island of Ireland, meaning new mums and their babies are separated at a critical period.
