Talking Therapies

Referrals

MindWise is here to provide support through our Talking Therapies to everyone aged 11 years old and older. There are several different routes to accessing our Talking Therapies, depending on how you would like to receive therapy - it could be through your GP, your employer or you can come to us directly.

How to get a referral

You can get a referral from your GP which will be sent directly to MindWise if we provide in your area, you can speak to your employer and come to an agreement with them to provide Talking Therapies for your wellbeing, or you can come directly to MindWise if you would like to self-fund.

Speak to your GP

If you are finding that life has become more difficult and your wellbeing is affected, for example if you are feeling overwhelmed easily or you are struggling to cope with day to day activities, it is a good idea to contact your GP for support. Your GP may refer you for Talking Therapies, and will undertake a holistic assessment to make sure there is nothing else which could be impacting on your health and wellbeing.

Talk to your Employer

MindWise can offer an Employee Assistance Programme, which is an agreement with your employer to support staff's mental health through the provision of Talking Therapies to anyone who may need it. There is no monthly fee for your employer - we will invoice for each member of staff's intervention when it is requested. There is total confidentiality with our therapists and everything that is discussed is never shared with anyone else, including your employer.

Come to us directly

If you would like support for yourself, or a loved one, and do not wish to wait on NHS services, please complete the online form below and we will contact you directly to set up an appointment with one of our therapists. We offer a package of a minimum of 7 sessions but you can take as many number of sessions above this as you may need. You can come back to us after your 7 sessions at any time and we will do our best to assign the same therapist if they are available. We do not share any of your details with your employer, insurance companies or the NHS so you are guaranteed total discretion and confidentiality when you access and pay for our service independently.

What to expect

When you are referred through your GP, we offer 6 sessions initially. When you come to us directly, either privately or through your employer, we normally offer 7 sessions as the first session involves an in-depth assessment of you and the issues you are currently experiencing. The therapist will also discuss your goals and help determine what you wish to achieve at the end of the sessions. If you are self-funding and feel that you would like more sessions, these can be arranged with the same therapist to continue for as long as you need. In all interventions, we use a wellbeing measurement tool called CoreNet which helps you to identify how you are feeling and chart your progress.
