Photography group volunteer

This role aims to support service-users within the Belfast Area to develop their photography skills. The volunteer will help service-users to use their own cameras, and give information and tips on how to take photographs. The group will meet in the Resource Centre but will focus on different themes and topics each week. Service-users will take their own photos and bring back to the group for discussion.

Main Duties

• Support service-users to develop their photography skills.
• Share knowledge and experience of photography.
• Facilitate discussions in the resource centre.
• Discuss the importance of privacy and photo consent when clients are in the local community.
• Feedback to Supervisor if they gave any concerns.

Abilities and experience

Essential

• Have the ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
• Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team as well as work independently.
• Own your own Digital Camera.
• Be able to take good quality, high resolution photos.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational skills.
• Interest in supporting those affected by severe mental illness.
• Reliability

Desirable

• Experience of photographing people/events
• Experience of editing digital images
• Previous experience of volunteering for a charity.
• Previous experience of working with or previous direct knowledge of those affected by severe mental illness in either a paid or voluntary capacity.

All appropriate and agreed expenses will be covered as per MindWise expenses policy.

Enhanced Access NI checks will be carried out on all regulated positions and successfully returned prior to placement. To assist in the role volunteers will be expected to attend and fully engage in guidance and support meetings with an allocated volunteer supervisor and will have access to regular training.
