Tamara finds her hope

Wed, 14 - May - 2025

"At that time, I felt numb. I didn’t know what I was thinking or feeling. After the shock of my marriage breaking down, life just kept going—but one day, I realised something wasn’t right."

Parenthood often brings old wounds to the surface.

"Even having my son, a lot of childhood trauma came up. The older he got, the more I reflected on my own childhood."

When she joined the WRAP programme, things began to change.

"One of the key things was that the Wellness Worker came to me in my own home. I didn’t have to go anywhere—as even that felt impossible. But for my son, I could always show up. Every baby group, every library visit. But for myself? That didn’t even exist."

During the early weeks of the programme, they explored the idea of hope.

"I will always remember the discussion—'what does hope mean to you?' I couldn’t answer. I had no hope. We had to move on to another section because I just couldn’t relate."

But slowly, through connection, things shifted.

"The Mums Support Group has been amazing—connecting with mums with the same shared experiences. I don’t walk in worrying who will be there. I feel understood. I even signpost other mums regularly in the local park! Rosie has encouraged me to explore voluntary or paid work—because I have a Masters in Family Support."
