Volunteer Peer Advocates: Human Health Project

Are you:

  • Someone who is empathetic towards others, willing to listen and share their experiences with others in a people-focussed way?
  • Someone who knows what it feels like to experience well-being or health issues and wants to help others in their own journey of recovery?
  • Someone with a genuine desire to make a real difference in people’s lives?
  • Someone who is an excellent communicator, team player and open to training and your own personal development?
  • Someone who can coach and support others as they navigate their own choices about health and well-being?

If the answers to these questions are yes, this could be an ideal opportunity for you – especially when many are looking to help others navigate the health landscape during this time of significant Global health need and concern.

We are looking for people who can:

  • Act as positive role models and provide 1-2-1 time-limited and structured support (utilising HHP support) to a small group of others.
  • Use their lived experience of managing health issues to provide empathy, support and inspiration to others.
  • Commit to being a Peer Advocate for a minimum period of time.
  • Have access to a stable internet connection and work well independently and remotely as needed.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of others.

In return we will offer you:

Opportunities to undertake further learning/Regular coaching & appraisal sessions/ Expert supervision & peer support

The training, support and supervision you will receive will provide you with the skills and experience not only to work on this project but also could be valuable for other roles that you may be seeking in the future. You will also join a fantastic team of volunteers with a wide range of life experiences.

Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced Access NI Check.
