Volunteer Facilitator - Self-Management Programme

The main purpose of this role is to facilitate or co-facilitate. Mental Health Self-management programmes to adults in the community.


  • To deliver short 1-2 hour sessions to adults in the local community
  • To liaise with MindWise staff on training dates and location
  • To gather evaluation forms at the end of each session and return to MindWise staff
  • To inform MindWise staff of any follow-up from the sessions
  • To ensure all administrative requirements for the training are met



    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Attendance at a trainer information session provided by MindWise
    • Good organisational skills
    • Good group facilitation skills
    • Interest in supporting those affected by severe mental illness


    • Basic admin skills
    • Previous experience of group facilitation
    • Previous experience within the voluntary sector, or previous knowledge of those affected by severe mental illness.

All appropriate and agreed expenses will be covered as per MindWise expenses policy. 

Enhanced Access NI checks will be carried out on all regulated positions and successfully returned prior to placement. To assist in the role volunteers will be expected to attend and fully engage in guidance and support meetings with an allocated volunteer supervisor and will have access to regular training.



Volunteer applicants will be invited to attend an informal interview with the Volunteer Manager and Self Management Co-ordinator and will be inducted via the Active 8 volunteer programme.
