Digital Champion Volunteer - Downpatrick


To assist adults with mental health issues to learn or maintain basic computer skills on a one to one or group basis.


  • To support clients to learn or maintain basic IT skills such as navigating a PC, Tablet or Ipad device.
  • To support clients to set-up emails and be aware of internet safety.
  • To prepare training materials required for the sessions.
  • To adhere to MindWise policies including Data Protection and Social Media.



Experience in a range of computer packages

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Good organisational skills


Interest in supporting those affected by mental health difficulties



Trained to ECDL level

Previous experience delivering IT classes

Previous experience within the voluntary sector

Previous knowledge of those affected by severe mental illness

All appropriate and agreed expenses will be covered as per MindWise expenses policy. 

Enhanced Access NI checks will be carried out on all regulated positions and successfully returned prior to placement. To assist in the role volunteers will be expected to attend and fully engage in guidance and support meetings with an allocated volunteer supervisor and will have access to regular training.


Volunteer applicants will be inducted via the Active 8 volunteer programme. They will be interviewed by the Volunteer Manager and the Service Manager.
