A new Approach to Financial Regulation: Consultation on Reforming the Consumer Credit Regime

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Mark Hoban, and the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Edward Davey, have today launched a consultation on transferring the regulation of consumer credit from the Office of Fair Trading to the new consumer protection and markets authority.

The consultation document is available now at www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/consult_consumer_credit.htm and www.bis.gov.uk/Consultations, and the consultation period will last until 22 March 2011. We would welcome your views on the consultation questions asked in the document.
