Help MindWise Save for a Rainy Day

Like everyone, MindWise is feeling the post Christmas financial pinch and is calling on the public to make a late New Year's resolution to become volunteers to help raise funds on our behalf.

MindWise currently supports people from accross Northern Ireland who are affected by severe mental illness and other mental health difficulties. Our services include; supported housing, community resource centres, advocacy services, community bridge building and carer support. All of these services are aimed at helping anyone who is affected by mental illness to recover a better quality of life and to re-take their rightful place as a full member of their local communities.

Claire Eakin, Volunteer Coordinator for MindWise, is asking local people to consider giving up a few hours a month to help raise funds to continue these services. She said "Anyone can become a volunteer with MindWise, we particularly welcome and support new volunteers who are affected by mental illness, but MindWise volunteer programmes are open to everyone. At the moment we particularly would like to recruit individuals who would be willing to become Collection Box volunteers. This would involve placing and managing 'in aid of MindWise' four collection boxes in their own area. This type of help would not only raise money to fund our services but would also help to raise the profile of mental illness in the places where people work, shop and socialise".

She continued "Anyone over 18 can be a Collection Box volunteer, no experience is needed and MindWise will reimburse all volunteers for out-of-pocket expenses they incur during their volunteering duties. I do hope many people will spare this little time and sign up to help us raise money to help even more people who need it".
