
ALL PARTY GROUP ON MENTAL HEALTH
A meeting of the All-Party Group on Mental Health will take place on Tuesday, 14 May 2013 at 12:30 in room 144.
TOPIC: Suicide Prevention
This meeting will focus on how we manage our mental health and well being to promote suicide prevention.
Dr Philip McGarry, Chairman, Royal College of Psychiatrists will make a short presentation on the Protect Life Strategy. He will highlight the following three points
- Alcohol,
- Emergency Departments
- Psychotherapy provision.
Siobhan Doherty, Chief Executive, Aware Defeat Depression, will outline to the meeting their programmes supported by Pat Lynch, Head of Services who will give an outline of the Living Life to the Full programme and Mood Matters.
There will be an opportunity for MLAs to discuss the presentations and agree positive steps to address the high instance of suicide in Northern Ireland.
The meeting will end with an open discussion on the issues raised.
